Carson and Jay
Meet Carson and her 16-year-old thoroughbred, Jay. During a severe thunderstorm in April 2024, Jay faced a devastating puncture wound to the chest. Immediate veterinary care was crucial, but beyond that, Carson was determined to explore additional methods to speed up Jay’s recovery. Thanks to Carson’s dedication and the innovative use of MagnaWave and ROC red light therapy, Jay made an inspiring recovery. Read along to see Jay’s journey to recovery.

Jay’s Progression
Understanding MagnaWave PEMF
MagnaWave PEMF is a non-invasive modality that uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to stimulate cell repair and improve circulation. MagnaWave emits pulsing electromagnetic fields (PEMF) that penetrate deep into the tissues, promoting the body’s natural healing processes. It’s especially effective for reducing inflammation, alleviating pain, and accelerating the healing of wounds.
In Jay’s case, Carson MagnaWaved Jay 2-3 times a week with the Julian, alternating the Large Loop, XL Wave Wings, and Zoom Paddle attachments to target the wound from all angles.Â
Incorporating ROC Red Light Therapy
In addition to MagnaWave, Carson integrated ROC red light therapy into Jay’s daily routine. Red light therapy uses LED lights to create red and infrared wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and promote healing at the cellular level.
The ROC red light was applied over Jay’s wound for 60 seconds daily. This consistency ensured that the cells in the wound area were continually stimulated, aiding in quicker and more efficient healing.
Studies have shown that red light therapy can enhance collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve blood circulation—all critical for wound healing. For Jay, combining PEMF and red light therapy proved to be a powerful duo.
Why MagnaWave PEMF and ROC Red Light Work Well Together
Enhanced Cellular Repair
Both PEMF and Red Light stimulate cellular activity, promoting repair and regeneration.Â
Improved Circulation
Both modalities improve blood flow, crucial for delivering essential nutrients and oxygen to the wound site. Enhanced circulation accelerates the healing process and reduces recovery time.
Pain Management
PEMF and red light therapy both have analgesic properties, helping to manage pain effectively. This ensures that the horse remains comfortable throughout the recovery process, reducing stress and promoting overall well-being.
The Results
Through the consistent use of MagnaWave PEMF and ROC red light therapy, Carson was able to guide Jay from a serious puncture wound to full recovery. Please consult your veterinarian before implementing a new modality in your horse’s wellness routine.
